Case Study: Historic Home Restoration

Location: Allenhurst, NJ

Located on Deal Lake in the coastal village of Allenhurst, NJ, Degnan Design Group/Design Build was hired by a wonderful local family to restore, expand and adapt this finely crafted period home (circa 1905). Initially built by an architect with Scandinavian heritage, this home has exceptional interior millwork, which was well preserved despite a century of multiple owners. 
DDG worked closely with the owners throughout an 18 month period to research, plan, design, and conceptualize the sympathetic transformation and restoration which our team of craftsman and restoration specialists constructed and restored. While preserving and enhancing the historic nature of the home was key to this project, integrating modern conveniences and technologies was also important. DDG incorporated an array of energy technology components including geothermal heating/cooling, high performance insulation, and in floor heating that greatly enhanced the comfort and operating cost of the home. This renovation and restoration of this beautifully crafted American Four Square was a challenging yet incredibly rewarding endeavor.
